They're proposing this in the land of regulating everything aka New York, and by the way, this is for soda pop, not alcohol. The argument goes that since the minimum age requirement for buying cigarettes worked so well in cutting down youth smoking (?) why not do the same thing for sugary drinks?
If you see anything wrong with that thinking, raise your hand. Everyone? Right.
What it will more likely do is get the kids used to having to show a government ID to get permission to do anything at all. Papers citizen? Right here officer!.
I wonder if ones soda pop permit will be accepted as ID to vote?
