Ammunition as Money

Per the Volokh Conspiricy,
Ammunition as Money?

"Massachusetts also designated musket balls legal tender at four per penny [in the 1600s]."

At current rates, a .73 caliber musket ball is currently worth $0.1634.

A box of .223 Matchkings goes for a lot more than that! :-)

Does that make reloading akin to counterfeiting?

most musket balls were made by individuals, I will assume that producing this form of tender is legal for all.
Also, if you make your tender in a modern caliber, and load them into modern smokeless cartridges, you'll find your money goes further.

I'd say reloading is akin to value-added investing? Double your money!
