The Ballot Truck Song

Remembering all those trucks that showed up at the counting station with hundreds of unfolded absentee ballots, all machine marked for Biden, at 2:30 AM the day after election day?

"Day-O (The Ballot Truck Song)"

Day-o, day-o
Daylight come and me wan' go home
Day, me say day, me say day, me say day
Me say day, me say day-o
Daylight come and de truck gone home

Work all night on a drink of rum
Daylight come and me wan' go home
Stack dem ballots till de morning come
Daylight come and de truck gone home

Come, Mister tally man, tally all me ballots
Daylight come and de truck gone home
Come, Mister tally man, tally all me ballots
Daylight come and me wan' go home

Lift six foot, seven foot, eight foot stack
Daylight come and me wan' go home
Shove 'em all in to de counter hatch
Daylight come and me wan' go home

Day, me say day-o
Daylight come and me wan' go home
Day, me say day, me say day, me say day, me say day, me say day
Daylight come and me wan' go home

A beautiful bunch o' pre marked ballots
Daylight come and me wan' go home
Hide the deadly one for Trump
Daylight come and me wan' go home

Lift six foot, seven foot, eight foot stack
Daylight come and me wan' go home
Shove 'em all in to de counter hatch
Daylight come and me wan' go home

Day, me say day-o
Daylight come and me wan' go home
Day, me say day, me say day, me say day, me say day, me say day
Daylight come and me wan' go home

Come, Mister tally man, tally all me ballots
Daylight come and me wan' go home
Come, Mister tally man, tally all me ballots
Daylight come and me wan' go home

Day-o, day-o
Daylight come and me wan' go home
Day, me say day, me say day, me say day
Me say day, me say day-o
Daylight come and me wan' go home

Testing, Hamas position

Hamas says the IDF has killed some unlikely number of civilians in Gaza. The IDF thinks otherwise. Here's a 'toon to help you tell the difference:

I'm too lazy to put much effort into drawing this, but I think you get the idea.

Colorado Joins Cali, N.Y., Ill

For 2022, Colorado joined the abovementioned 3 states in having more people move out than in. The overall population moved up a bid, but the moving stats tell the story.

The story about Denver being swamped with illegals is too new to show up on these graphs, but next years numbers should be eye-popping.

QOTD - The Modern Left

Shamelessly taken from the WSJ, who also felt this worthy of repetition:

Thus does the glacial pace of the American legal system, and the helpless timidity shown by most liberal judges . . ., enable Trump’s attack on democracy. . . . Even most liberal judges, facing an existential threat to their entire profession, as well as serious threats to their own safety, can’t bring themselves to give Trump a taste of his own medicine. [Tanya] Chutkan at least is less tolerant of his lying garbage, but she did pause his trial. And the D.C. appellate decision rescinding part of her gag order, written by three Democratic appointees, reads like a parody of anxious liberal hand-wringing. “Mr. Trump is a former President and current candidate for the presidency,” it reads, “and there is a strong public interest in what he has to say.”
Even granting the dubious idea that the public interest is served by Trump’s semiliterate screeds on Truth Social, there is a far more obvious and compelling interest here. Whether he becomes president again will be highly influenced, and perhaps determined entirely, by whether these cases can be resolved in a timely and fair fashion. That interest is directly and seriously undermined by letting him speak about the trial in any way whatsoever. Indeed, if anyone has ever deserved pretrial detention, it is him.

Ryan Cooper writing for the American Prospect, Dec. 20:

This should give you a bit of a foretaste of what to expect when the left finally grasps the brass ring of uncontested one-party rule.

QOTD - Sex

Found this gem on Scott Adams' twitter page.

He's not entirely wrong. Combine a Musk robot endoskeleton with a RealDolls body, and there you are. The bot could also likely manage your money, pay your bills, watch your favorite news, buy your groceries, etc. The bots are currently a bit stilted and clumsy, so I wouldn't trust one just yet to cook meals, but I'm sure it could recommend some nice recipes.

NICS November 23

Barreling into the first decline in NICS checks since 2005!

QOTD - Politics

This from Sen J. Kennedy of LA:

I’m not saying this is accurate but I can read a poll and the American people have concluded that President Biden is old and he needs soup and an early bedtime and they have concluded that Vice President Harris is not capable, that when her IQ gets to 75, she should sell.”

DeSantis To Select Proxy For Trump Debate?

DeSantis has offered to wear a boot on his head if Trump will agree to debate him, but may be walking that back (That boot was made for walking) by sending perennial candidate Vermin Supreme as his proxy in the debate.

This would kill 2 birds with a single boot heel as DeSantis would not have to wear the boot on his head, and Trump would look silly debating someone who makes a homeless vagrant look normal.

This might lead some to suggest DeSantis consider Mr. Supreme as his running mate, as he at least comes across as slightly more reasonable than Kamala Harris and significantly less demented than Joe Biden.

NICS - October 23

I don't understand why NICS checks seem to be falling off at this point with the administration solidly hostile to gun ownership, Using the catch-and-release approach to violent criminals, and indifferent to opening our borders to People with inarguably sketchy backgrounds.

What's going on here? I'm beginning to suspect my data source (FBI)

They wouldn't lie to me, would they?

You Can't Win

In a recent competition of the best and brightest of Americas High schoolers, kids demonstrated real genius in developing products with real utility, including adding an ingredient to soap that combats Melanoma. Here's the picture of the 10 winners up on the stage with their medals:

Click to enlarge. Note that most of the winners seem to be Asian. Big surprise.

Note also that when you're short, and get placed between the 4 tallest people in the picture, you tend to get edged toward the edge of the dias. If you're holding your hands together (never do this!) and try to step back off the cliff, the photog will press the button just as you move, making it look like you're overdue for a bathroom break. Kid #8 probably invented antigravity, but this picture will NEVER adorn his wall without some serious cropping. I wish them all the greatest success and fortune downstream, although I suspect the biggest fortune will be won by someone who figures out how to subliminally compel people to buy his brand of sneakers.

Cynical? Moi?

NICS Checks for September

Overall numbers are down again! It's almost as though the gun owners are convinced they have enough weaponry to hold of Milleys Marauders, and the antis now believe Antifa, BLM, and newly released criminals will leave them alone or something. The projected annual total is trending down for the first time since 2002!

Affirmative Action, Out Loud

The DNC has never forgiven the Republicans for freeing their slaves, but it's been gauche to just come out and say so. Sometimes, though, someone lets slip the truth.

Sweeden Recognizes Sex As Sport

 Fun with headlines department:

Sweden recognizes sex as a sport; first European Sex Championship to take place on June 8

According to the report, 70% of the votes from the crowd will be included during the final evaluation, while the remaining 30% will come from the judges’ votes. The European Sex Championship candidates will compete in 16 disciplines, including seduction, oral sex, penetration, Appearance, and so on.

Rumor has it that teams from Afghanistan and Scotland have been rejected as the governing committee as yet does not recognize sex between men and either goats or sheep as legitimate. Both countries have appealed.

U.S. teenagers eagerly anticipate formal recognition of the sport into high school sports.

Fun With Headlines / QOTD - Elections

Found at Newsmax. First the headline:

Musk Talks 2024: Want Someone 'Fairly Normal' for President

and the quote:
"I've said publicly that my preference — and I think it would be the preference for most Americans — is willing to have someone fairly normal in office," Musk said.

Wouldn't we all. Note that he is not asking for complete normality, just mostly normality. In Washington, this may be a high bar, but certainly less so for the rest of us. Note as well that this plea is coming from a man who does not think it unreasonable to be planning to move to Mars.

Einstein Was Wrong!

Albert Einstein famously observed once that to try something over and over in hopes of getting different results was a definition of insanity. Turns out there's an important exception.

As a prosecutor or A.G.* interrogating an important suspect, if you drag out the interrogation for 7 hours, and ask the same questions multiple times, there's a good chance your victim will give a slightly different answer to one of the duplicate questions, even if only using different grammer. GOTCHA!

This is known as the perjury trap, and at that point his guilt or innocence of the original crimes doesn't matter. You got him on perjury!

*A.G. ; Aspiring Governor. Job description includes neutralizing contenders from the opposing party before they can become serious contenders.

How To Beat A DUI

In California anyway, and it isn't easy in any case. Seems this fellow was caught by his wife with another woman. With a blood alcohol of .11, he fled. The jury let him off the DUI charge since he claimed the driving was a necessity:

When a necessity defense is allowed by a trial judge, a defendant must prove that:
1. He acted in an emergency to prevent a significant bodily harm or evil to himself or someone else;
2. He had no adequate legal alternative;
3. The defendant’s driving under the influence and/or with a blood alcohol of .11/.11 did not create a greater danger than the one avoided;
4. When the defendant acted, he actually believed that the act of driving under the influence and/or with a blood alcohol of .11/.11 was necessary to prevent the threatened harm or evil;
5. A reasonable person would also have believed that driving under the influence and/or with a blood alcohol of .11/.11 was necessary under the circumstances; and
6. The defendant did not substantially contribute to the emergency.

Full story here, but behind the WSJ paywall.

NICS Checks Jan 23

Here's the latest graph. XL is fighting me or I've forgotten how to do these things. Probably the latter. I'll work on fixing it. Jan check total is 2673921 so you know where to look for the single dot on the chart. Click to enlarge.

NICS Checks Dec 2022

Winding up the year with a bang (so to speak)

The final number for December is 3.036.531 which is second best for December. Let's face it, 2020 and 2021 are going to be hard to beat.

Paying Baksheesh

If you want some group to give you money, you can promise to help them, or you can promise to not hurt them. The best models for this are government and organized crime. Government starts out by promising to pave the roads and put up street lights. The mob starts out by promising to not break windows or burn your business down. Guess which offer is the most persuasive. Government has moved up to suggesting that monies donated to certain political parties will defer new regulations that would have the same effect as a Molotov cocktail through the window. Republicans say they won't support the regulations. Satisfied that they are safe from the Right, businesses see no reason to pay the protection money to them.
