Take your time. No rush.
Notice the absence of mention of ammunition. Perhaps Diana DeGette
told her is came in the magazines so she's convinced the gun is already
loaded. Her initial reaction seems to bear this out.
Glorioski! The ammo shortage works in our favor. No danger of an A.D.
The cop was right. Still it is not to say this person can't be helped, but the first step is to admit you've got a problem. I'm not holding my breath.

The lady getting a gun for the feeling of carrying a gun is focused solely on her own feelings -- which is a hallmark of the Brady bunch.
Overlooking that carrying a warrior's weapon without being a warrior (which might or might not be limited by carrying a recognizable weapon) -- does indeed catch the attention of others intending violence.
Apparently she hasn't, yet, thought about the consequences to herself, her self image, or emotional stability, or to her family and neighborhood if she actually does ever pull the weapon, let alone use it -- with either intentional or accidental consequences.
Hopefully this self-directed, unmonitored, ill-conceived "experiment" ends with nothing more than a little gain in self-knowledge. And, who know? It is possible that she notices there are fewer acts of violence in her neighborhood while she makes everyone a bit nervous.
I pray nothing worse happens.
Then there is the matter of what she is teaching her son about security and self-honesty (a gun hater carrying for a month).
*sigh*
