Home Made Jacketed .40 S&W bullets

I found one of the bullets I previously mentioned at the range:
Here's the front view. Hollow point, jacketed, has bounced off something.
Side view showing rifling marks. I picked it up thinking it was a piece of 9mm reloadable brass.
Yup, 9mm Luger. That's lead showing through the primer pocket.
The stuff opens up impressively, but I suspect it requires a very hard target to perform properly.

Holy Cow, Billll! You just riled up my gun itch. Now I have a new caliber in my wish list. I can hardly wait for you to report how these shoot out of your Hi-Point.

These are not my bullets. To my mind this is more work than it's worth. Barry's plated bullets work fine and don't require more than a few bucks more than bare lead.

These are really quite bizarre. No idea who is using them at your range?
