SCOTUS Approves Gun Bans

In declining to grant cert in the Highland Park case, the court effectively said that although you have a right to keep and bear arms, the actual arms you're allowed to keep and bear may be circumscribed by local and state governments. Highlands Park has a ban on all semi-auto weapons capable of accepting a magazine of over 10 rounds. Predictably the police are exempted from this as they presumably have a pressing need to kill the greatest number of people in the shortest time.

The state of California has a similar ban as do a few other states. Now that this is approved, look for Bloomberg to begin dumping money into squishy states to get this restriction more broadly passed.

This also sets the precedent for states to narrowly permit the types of guns the citizens have the right to own. Connecticut tried to pass a 7-round limit a while back but now that the gates are open, look for that to be amended to one in the near future. Colorado's 15 round limit is soon going to look very permissive and if the Dems get the Senate back, look for that number to be reduced.
