Ammo Shortage Reason Found

The fellow pictured here seems to have visited the Centennial Wal-Mart, filled a shopping cart with some 2500 rounds of ammo and strolled out. He came back and picked up some more in the bag. If you can't find ammo in South Denver, this may be the reason.

There's a Tanner Gun Show this weekend. You don't suppose he might be selling some there do you?

I hope he left the .22 ammo. . .

The bag he's carrying in the right-hand picture looks like it has 6 boxes of Remington 555 count .22 in it.

I could be wrong though.

Those 550 packs were selling for about $15 - $20 in 2012. This guy is asking $100 per 550 rounds.

Of course, since he took them out of the boxes and dumped them into a .50 ammo can, we have only his word for the amount and the source.

What makes me doubt it is that he's got 10 boxes of 550 packs there. I haven't seen that much .22 at a Wal-mart in about 2 years.

Then again, it could be. I don't remember ever seeing 550 rd Federal ammo there, only Remington. Also the practice of breaking 10 bulk boxes to dump it all into a GI ammo box, while very tactical, sounds like a recipe for a lot of dirty ammo. Unless, of course the boxes had incriminating lot numbers on them.

Walmart today had a recall from Winchester -- on M22 boxes of .22LRT. It seems that on two lot dates there were some problems with double-loaded rounds (capable of damaging guns and injuring -- maybe badly -- the shooter or bystanders.

*Winchester* brand only, and only the 500 and 1,000 round M22 boxes of .22LRT. The four boxes of M22 rounds we had in my store were brass plated, hollow points, not the copper plated round nose rounds that have the problem.

From Winchester.com (http://www.winchester.com/library/news/Pages/s22lrt-recall.aspx) "Olin Corporation, through its Winchester Division, is recalling two (2) lots of M*22™ 22 Long Rifle 40 Grain Black Copper Plated Round Nose rimfire ammunition.
Symbol Number: S22LRT
Lot Numbers: GD42L and GD52L"
.

And here I hoped everyone was getting caught up. Well, maybe next week.
