Take your shootin' buddy to the range. Bring about 10 copies of this target:
This target prints best in landscape format. When you get to the range, place one face up where both of you can see it for reference. Staple the one you are going to shoot to the target board facing away from you. One of you gets the left set and one of you gets the right. Notice that you can't actually see the ships. You get 10 shots each and only 2 hits will be scored on each ship. When you are finished, take down the target, turn it over, and see how you did. In the event of a tie, the person to finish first wins.
The ships are in pale colors to save ink. Since you won't be able to see the ships while you're shooting at them, it won't matter. Handguns = standing unsupported, 25 ft. Rifles = any position but no rests, 25 yd. You may use any sights you want.
Since a generous part of your score on this will be attributable to luck, I probably will not use this next year. OTOH, if it were printed in dark black and shot with the printed side facing the shooter, under all the usual rules, it might make a challenging target, ya think?

Merle
I like it!
The backstory is that Lizzy learned that trick from her mother when I was training security guards. We'll tell you all about it at the GBR.
