If you could do another such chart with total violent crime it would be of great interest.

Joe Huffman is known for asking gun control advocates if they would still support gun control if, while gun-involved crime went down after enactment, total violent crime went up. The answers, or rather lack of answers, to his query led him to describe the inability of gun controllers to use facts to rationally arrive at a conclusion as a mental abberation, which he named The Peterson Syndrome after his prime example, Brady Board Member Joan Perterson.
